In this ranked Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition match, KnightRushTV plays Japanese vs Goths on Arabia against Brofessional Gamer at 1468 ELO.
I open with my standard Men-at-Arms and Skirmisher pressure and come incredibly close to destroying my opponent's Archery Range, getting it down to less than 100 HP. He attempts to counterattack, but I'm able to hold the pressure and reach Castle Age in a reasonable position.
Once in Castle Age, I transition into Cavalry Archers and begin harassing the Goth economy. However, it quickly becomes clear that my opponent has committed to a very different strategy.
A large group of Huskarls starts moving across the map. He's playing a 1 Town Center all-in, focusing heavily on the Goth unique unit specifically designed to counter archers. With my army built around ranged units, I need to react quickly and transition into infantry.
Unfortunately, my Arabia map generation makes that transition extremely difficult.
I have only two relatively safe woodlines, with my remaining wood located forward, exposed, or positioned around hills. There is no good location for a third Town Center that can safely secure another woodline, while relying on exposed Lumber Camps would leave my economy vulnerable to the incoming Huskarl army.
The lack of safe wood becomes increasingly important. I need wood not only to maintain my economy but also to construct the additional Barracks required for an infantry transition. With my wood income under pressure, I'm unable to establish the production needed to mass an effective counter to the Huskarls.
Eventually, the Goth army breaks into my base and my opponent follows the pressure with a forward Castle Drop. With Huskarls inside my economy, insufficient infantry production, and nowhere safe to expand for wood, I'm unable to stabilize and I'm forced to resign.

Game Mode: Ranked Ladder
This match demonstrates how important map generation, resource positioning, and safe woodlines can be in Age of Empires II. I knew I needed to transition away from archers and into infantry to counter the Goth Huskarl push, but without enough safe wood income, I couldn't build the Barracks or economy needed to make the switch in time.
Sometimes Arabia gives you plenty of room to expand. Other times, your map can severely restrict the strategic options available to you.
