Trick or treat! This week on Glue and Giggles we made adorable Halloween gift bags from just one 6" x 6" piece of paper. Perfect for the little ones who come to your door.
Welcome, crafty friends! Grab a coffee and settle in. I have already filled some of mine with treats for Halloween (so I will not eat them, I promise). This bag design comes from the wonderful Paper Pixie, who makes the easiest boxes and bags to follow. One sheet of paper, a few score lines, and you have treat packaging ready to go.
What You Will Learn:
How to score and fold a treat bag from a single 6" x 6" sheet
Why you should snip small wedges from the side tabs before gluing
My block H trick for holding the bag bottom while glue sets
How to thread ribbon with dental floss holders and finish a faux bow closure
How to punch closure holes that avoid the extra layers
Measurements:
Start with 6" x 6" paper (tonight I used Frightfully Fun; Spooktacular works too, or cut 6" x 6" from 12" x 12")
With paper running top to bottom, score at 1-1/8", 2-1/8", 3-7/8" and 4-7/8"
Rotate clockwise, score at 1" and 4-1/2"
Turn over, score at 5-1/2"
Fold the 1/2" top flap back and fold the rest in
Punch two holes for the ribbon, eyeballing placement and avoiding the extra layers
Thread black 3/8" iridescent ribbon through, add a tab tag, and finish with the faux bow
Products and Supplies Featured:
Frightfully Fun 6" x 6" paper (Spooktacular designer paper also works: 4 designs, 12 sheets of each, 48 total, stripes on the back)
Scoreboard for crisp score lines
My Sweet Petunia precision glue gun, plus green liquid glue (go light!)
Acrylic block H for pressing the bag bottom (still available, I checked)
Retired Stampin' Up! Crop-A-Dile for the small hole punch
Black 3/8" iridescent ribbon, shiny on the ends
Dental floss holders for threading ribbon
Tab tag, ghost and bat embellishments, plain black and white dots
Why You Will Love This Project:
It is quick, it is sturdy, and one sheet of paper makes one whole bag. The faux bow closure looks fancy but is simple once you see it, and the bags are the perfect size for Halloween treats. Make a batch in an afternoon and you are ready for every little ghost and goblin on the street.
Weekly Draw:
Congratulations to Gail, winner of last week's gatefold card! I fixed it, it now stays shut, and it is on its way to you. This week's prize is one of these Halloween gift bags. Sorry, I cannot mail treats in it, but the bag is all yours. I may flatten it for mailing, or a local winner can pick it up. To enter, leave a comment on this video. I spin the wheel next week!
Coming Up:
Product of the Month ($7 with a $100 order): Glow of Harvest and Luxe Foliage are still available, and Shining Stars dies arrived Tuesday, October 6. Mine are on the way and I hear many of yours are too. These will likely sell out, so do not wait too long.
Paper Pumpkin: Saturday, October 10 is the last day to subscribe to this kit. The coordinating dies cover the October, November and December kits.
Friday Zoom With Friends tomorrow at 1:00 PM. Cutting instructions go out Thursday mornings, and everyone uses their own supplies.
Christmas card class options: join free or choose the $10 PDF tutorial with the recording included.
Three more Halloween projects are scheduled through the end of October, and two are already on my channel. Happy browsing!
Keep on stamping and having fun! Please mail your cards!
