Video interview with YasonX at    • Morphus Making Mahvel Madness!! (Feat. Mor...   X-Men vs. Street Fighter (CPS-2, 1996) with three characters a side: pick three, tag either reserve, chain Hypers into Hypers, snap the other team's point out, and play with two people or six, one per character. What's in it: Three a side. 2P is P1 against P2; 6P is P1/P2/P3 against P4/P5/P6, and each player plays the character they picked for the whole match Tags: MP+MK brings in reserve A, MP+HK reserve B, HP+HK the first living one. Only the point's owner tags; waiting players' buttons do nothing in combat A knocked-out point hands over to whoever is still alive; all three count for the timeout Delayed Hyper Combos: during a Hyper, the next member's Hyper motion + MP+MK or MP+HK. Each Hyper costs its own meter, and each character joins a chain once Snapbacks: QCF+MP+MK or QCF+MP+HK for one level knocks the point out and drags the named reserve in, from neutral or cancelled from a ground normal that made contact Team Hyper (QCF+HP+HK) and the Variable Counter as the arcade game has them, with the first living reserve Six colours per character, one per confirm button; a mirror gets the next free colour CPU teams with three members, the whole arcade mode through Apocalypse and the partner battle An optional wide arena, 512x224: 64 more columns each side, the same stage ends The side rails read the game's own RAM, frame by frame. The board scenes show the CPS-2 and what the patch adds to its program ROM; their chip counts were measured frame by frame from the 68000 while the takes were recorded. Get it: morphus56k.com/downloads/xmvsf-3v3 (2P and 6P packages for Windows x86-64, Linux x86-64 and macOS on Apple silicon, with a RetroArch core included). You need your own X-Men vs. Street Fighter set (xmvsf, Europe 961004). No ROM data is included. Photosensitivity warning: the game's own Hyper Combos flash, and some effects in the board scenes pulse. The game's strobes (the Team Hyper's white screens, KO and hit flashes) are softened in this video: where they would pass three flashes a second, the frames around them are averaged. Checked with our own test of the general flash rule of ITU-R BT.1702 (no more than three flashes a second over a quarter of the screen; not a certified Harding test, and red flashes aren't tested): no stretch goes over it; the busiest second has three.
