X Minus One - "Dwellers in Silence" (Old Time Radio, 1955)

X Minus One, “Dwellers in Silence,” originally broadcast on NBC on November 10, 1955, is episode 24. Adapted for radio by George Lefferts from Ray Bradbury’s story—later collected as “The Long Years” in The Martian Chronicles—the episode features Anne Seymour, Karl Weber, and Richard Hamilton. Twenty years after war has devastated Earth, Captain John Parsons and two fellow travelers leave the struggling Mars colonies to search their former home world for signs of life. Their arrival in an eerily lit but apparently deserted city leads to a meeting with an isolated scientist and his unusual household. Old Time Retro Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
