“Baby Face” is a cheerful, catchy 1926 fox trot composed by Harry Akst, with lyrics by Benny Davis. Jan Garber’s orchestra gives it a buoyant Jazz Age dance-band treatment, with Benny Davis himself providing the vocal refrain. Garber’s recording was the first recording of the song, which quickly became one of the major popular hits of 1926. Recorded: June 29, 1926, in New York City (matrix BVE-35558). Released: August 20, 1926, on Victor 20105-B. The other side is Johnny Hamp’s Kentucky Serenaders – “That’s Why I Love You.”
