Is there a thank you you never got round to saying? Not because you did not mean it. You did. It just never got out of you and into words, and then the next thing happened, and it went under. Most of us are carrying a small stack of those. And some of the oldest ones are to God. This is a gentle morning prayer for the good that arrived and never got mentioned. We read Psalm one hundred, and then find out that the small line printed above it is the name of a sacrifice. We sit with a law in Leviticus that said a thank offering had to be eaten before morning, which meant nobody could thank God quietly, because there was too much bread and you had to go and find people to help you eat it. We watch a man in Babylon give thanks at a window facing a city that was rubble. And we finish with ten men on a border road, one of whom turned around, and the word Jesus used for him that He did not use for the other nine. If you have been meaning to say something and have not yet, this prayer is for you. Scriptures in this prayer: Psalm 100 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Leviticus 7:15 And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not leave any of it until the morning. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Luke 17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
