BSPRM 2026 - Prof. Frane Grubišić - A Vision for European PRM

Recorded at the BSPRM 2026 Conference in Edinburgh, this interview features Professor Frane Grubišić, a PRM specialist from Croatia and newly elected President of the UEMS PRM Section, in conversation with Dr Javvad Haider, newly elected BSPRM President-Elect, shortly after Professor Grubišić’s election. Professor Grubišić outlines his priorities for the UEMS PRM Section, including greater recognition of physical and rehabilitation medicine within European healthcare policy and systems. His proposed approach centres on closer communication with national PRM societies, a better understanding of the workforce and professional challenges they face, and coordinated advocacy at national and European levels. The conversation also covers residency and training standards, leadership development, education, research and the production of evidence-based position papers that can support advocacy and change. Professor Grubišić sets out an ambition to bring Europe’s PRM organisations closer together through a more connected and unified structure. He concludes by emphasising that progress will depend on collective action and the knowledge, experience and participation of colleagues and national societies across Europe.
