The Council of Nicaea didn't vote on the Bible. The documents record a fight over one Greek word. We open the file.
In 325, Emperor Constantine gathered bishops at Nicaea. The popular story says they sorted the books of the Bible. No surviving council document says that. The real debate was over homoousios, whether the Son is of the same being as the Father. This case file reads what the Council of Nicaea actually decided, who proposed the word, who refused to sign, and why the creed's own defenders were exiled within a decade. We also give the strongest case against our own reading, and mark where the evidence ends.
