1) JAIGAD FORT :- • Location: Jaigad village, Ratnagiri District, about 14–18 km from Ganpatipule and 45 km from Ratnagiri town. • Built By: Bijapur Sultanate in the 16th century. • Historical Timeline: Later held by the Naiks of Sangameshwar, passed to Maratha naval commander Kanhoji Angre in 1713, and finally seized by the British East India Company in 1818. • Area & Architecture: Sprawls across roughly 13 acres, featuring sturdy laterite stone ramparts, a deep landward moat (Khandak), and views on three sides facing the sea. 2) KARHATESHWAR TEMPLE :- Is an ancient coastal shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located near Nandivade village and Jaigad Fort in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, India. • Location: Nestled on a sloping hill bordering the Arabian Sea, roughly 6 km from Jaigad Fort, 12 minutes away from the fort, and about 40–48 km from Ratnagiri city. • History & Origin: Believed to date back to the Shilahara reign (765–1029 CE) or roughly 800 to 1,000 years old. Legend states a cowherd named Jogi followed a cow that regularly shed milk over a stone near the seashore, leading to the discovery of the self-manifested (Swayambhu) Shivlinga. • Natural Wonder (Bobhati Ganga): A natural underground freshwater spring flows through a stone Gomukh (cow-faced spout) into a cleansing Kund just a few steps away from the seashore, providing sweet, fresh water despite being surrounded by the saline Arabian Sea 3)Ratnadurg Fort /Bhagawati Fort :- This fort was built during the Bahamani period. In 1670 Maratha emperor Shivaji won the fort from the hands of Adil Shah of Bijapur.Shivaji maharaj had built protecting towers on two commanding points, one at the south and the other near the old court house. The Citadel defense was improved by maratha admiral Kanhoji Angre in 1750–1755. Dhondu Bhaskar Pratinidhi did some minor repairs to the fort during Peshwa regime (1755–1818).The fort was later won by the British in 1818.
