Beyond the City: Slow Summer in Rural Yunnan 🏞️

This summer, we left Shanghai for five days in Shaxi, a small village town in south-western China. I’m a Shanghai local, born and raised here, and after more than 30 years in this fast-paced city, I wanted to experience a different rhythm of life with my family. Yunnan has always been one of my favorite places in China. Known for its cooler summer weather, beautiful landscapes, diverse local cultures and great food, it’s also a popular summer destination for many Chinese travelers. In this video, we travel from Shanghai to Shaxi Town with our two-year-old daughter, explore the quiet town in the early morning, and spend a slow afternoon doing almost nothing.
