With a mere 80-foot takeoff distance, a 4,200-feet-per-minute climb, and a stall speed of around 35 mph, DRACO redefines the standards for STOL aircraft. Start-up, taxi and depart from (3W5) Concrete Municipal Airport. We flew into this airport in August, 2024 and absolutely fell in love with the area. The airport has lush green grass that is cared for by a few of the hangar tenants that live on the field a few months out of the year (summertime). Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. We camped under the redwoods for two nights and shared meals with the locals. There is fuel on the field, but no crew car. The pilot's 'lounge' that is hardly a lounge at all - it's more like an apartment with two separate bathrooms with hot showers, and a full-size kitchen with pots, pans, utensils and a refrigerator and dishwasher. Suggested donation of $10/night to camp and use the facilities, which is ridiculously undervalued. Fly "round-about" the city of Concrete, and reinvigorating this classic Orbx destination, (3W5) is located between Orcas Island, Anacortes and Darrington in Skagit County, perfect for short hops exploring the jaw-dropping scenery of this corner of Washington State. New ultra-high-definition artwork, comprehensive PBR, new modelling and terraforming are found throughout. Real-world updates to the airfield are also reflected in this new scenery; the new fuel farm, several hangars under construction, and movement areas have all been created from scratch using up-to-date source material. Beyond the airfield, explore the townsite and surrounding scenery with a host of landmarks, including the well-known Portland Cement Silos, the historic bridge over the Sauk River, the school and plenty more. Major updates to the ground textures, elevations, vegetation and terraforming extend well beyond the airport perimeter too. Fantastic little airport super beautiful scenery and access to Mt Baker and Baker Lake.
