Mary Wells, Martha Reeves, Tammi Terrell (1964) • Motown Golden Era | Classic 60s Soul • Essential

From the archive — a Motown-era keeper pulled from the shelf, all satin grooves and heartbeat drums, stamped 1962–1968. This collection is inspired by Mary Wells Martha Reeves Tammi Terrell and the golden era of soul — bright, church-bred lead lines riding tight rhythm sections, handclaps, and that unmistakable Motown snap. Hear the horns punch through like a downtown parade, strings sweep in with pop elegance, and the room tone of the decade’s studios—close-mic intimacy, tambourine shimmer, and bass that walks straight into your chest. Liner notes: “My Dearest Man” opens the door with a lover’s promise, then “Embrace Me My Beloved” leans in close like a late-night slow dance. When the groove heats up, “Smiling Soul” turns the lights back on—until “This Tired Heart of Mine (Still Beats for You)” reminds you the sweetest devotion always carries a little ache.
