Griff's Magic Theatre 28th October 2026

This week Griff has rounded up Hot Chocolate, a Giant Crab, some Friendly People and The Troggs lurking in the long grass. Either it’s another splendid playlist or a picnic that’s gone badly wrong. Expect soul, garage rock, psychedelia, glorious pop and a few records that deserve considerably more attention than they usually get. Honeybus can’t let Maggie go, Bob Lind reports that Cheryl’s going home, and Manfred Mann is stuck in the middle. Keeping track of everyone is becoming an administrative nightmare. Elsewhere, Little Richard makes his financial requirements perfectly clear, The Everly Brothers explain the price of love, and Roy Orbison appears to have received the bill. There’s music from Gordon Lightfoot, The Yardbirds, Bobbie Gentry, String Driven Thing, Iain Matthews and plenty more, all brought together by Griff’s ear for a good tune and cheerful disregard for the obvious choices. The Hollies say “Stop! Stop! Stop!” Jo Jo Gunne say “Run Run Run”. We suggest sitting comfortably and letting Griff sort it out. Looking for a particular tune?
