On February 16, 2026, Caleb Flynn called 911 from his home in Tipp City, Ohio, and said an intruder had shot his wife, Ashley. A Miami County jury later found the former American Idol contestant guilty of her aggravated murder.
The jury heard that Ashley found his secret messages to another woman twice, the second time on their 15th-anniversary cruise, about six months before she died. This film follows the 911 call, his police interviews, the phone and Apple Watch data the State's analyst described, the trial, the verdict and the sentence.
CASE STATUS (checked 16 Oct 2026): Caleb Flynn was found guilty on all nine counts, including aggravated murder, on 29 Sep 2026 and was sentenced on 5 Oct 2026 to life without the possibility of parole. His lawyers filed a notice of appeal on 7 Oct 2026; as of 16 Oct 2026 news reports said the appeal was pending. The conviction and sentence stand. He maintains he did not kill her. The woman he had the affair with is not named here and, as of 16 Oct 2026, has not been charged. The gun has not been found as of 16 Oct 2026. Anyone not convicted is presumed innocent.
Content note: this case involves a violent death and some viewers may find it disturbing.
