How former deputy CDF ended up in custody

A day after security forces arrested former Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Peter Elwelu, in Soroti City following a manhunt over allegations of involvement in subversive activities and plans to destabilise the Teso sub-region, details have emerged about how the arrest was effected. The arrest was announced on Monday evening by the UPDF Acting Director of Defence Public Information, Colonel Chris Magezi, who said the former senior army commander would be prosecuted.Elwelu had reportedly been on the run as intelligence agencies intensified operations targeting suspected rebel activities and unauthorized military stockpiles in eastern Uganda. Security agencies say a recent operation linked to the general led to the recovery of 15 firearms, military fatigues and two pickup trucks. #ntvnews #Akawungeezi For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter   / ntvuganda   Like our Facebook page   / ntvuganda
