A heated parliamentary debate has erupted over unfulfilled presidential pledges, with PLU’s Daudi Kabanda challenging government to honour commitments made to communities across Uganda. During an exchange involving Minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr Chris Baryomunsi, Kabanda argued that government should only make promises it has the capacity to fulfil. The MP also reminded fellow legislators that they have a duty to follow up on presidential pledges made in their constituencies, including raising the issues during parliamentary caucus meetings and presidential rallies. The debate went beyond Kabanda’s concerns, with other MPs raising questions about specific development commitments affecting their communities, including Bukodo Central, Kyamadaka and Soroti. The discussion highlights growing parliamentary pressure on government to improve accountability and ensure that presidential promises, including infrastructure projects such as bridge construction, translate into actual service delivery. Watch the full parliamentary debate and hear the concerns raised by lawmakers.
