Marriage is NOT hard. Yes, I said it.
Today, my hubby Manu is joining me for Day 10, and we’re talking about something we have disagreed with for years: the idea that marriage is automatically supposed to be hard.
We met at 17 while running track in France, and we have now been together for 32 years. We have grown up together, built a family together, and lived through some incredibly difficult seasons together.
Our marriage has required communication, emotional intelligence, uncomfortable conversations, and a willingness to hear each other. But I still would NOT call the marriage hard.
Life can be hard. Raising children can be hard. Watching someone you love struggle can be hard. But when you are doing life with your person, your marriage should be the partnership that helps you get through those things.
In this video, we talk about:
• How we met as teenagers in France
• What has kept us together for 32 years
• Why communication has always been our foundation
• The difficult season after our daughter’s diagnosis
• Why we never go to bed angry
• Love as an action, not only something you say
• Why marriage should not require losing yourself
• The emotional intelligence a healthy relationship requires
We definitely do not have a perfect marriage. We get on each other’s nerves, we disagree, and we have had our ups and downs. But he is my person, and I would not want to do life with anybody else.
Do you believe marriage is hard? I’m genuinely curious. Tell us why or why not in the comments.
This is Day 10 of my 100 Days of Posting and My Road to Abundance, where I’m becoming more comfortable using my voice and documenting the journey while I’m still living it.
Thank you for watching, and please like, subscribe, and come back tomorrow for Day 11!
