How do you become confident before you actually feel ready? When I started my photography business, I did not even know how to shoot in manual mode. My camera was in automatic, I was still learning how everything worked, and I still started charging $1,000 per session. I did not know everything, but I presented myself like I belonged there. I trusted that whatever I did not know yet, I could learn. That confidence helped me build a successful photography career that has lasted more than 16 years! Now that I’m entering a new online space, I’ve noticed something uncomfortable. I have been shrinking myself. I’ve been showing up with an energy that says, “I don’t know what I’m doing. Please like me.” That is NOT who I am. In Day 15 of my 100 Days of Posting, I’m talking about: • How to act confidently before you feel ready • Why people respond to the energy you present • Charging $1,000 while I was still learning photography • What “fake it till you make it” means to me • The difference between confidence and pretending to have skills you do not have • Why starting over made me shrink myself • Remembering who I was when I built my first business • Embodying your future self before the results appear • Setting the standard for how people treat and perceive you • Building real confidence through small wins Confidence does not mean lying about your qualifications or refusing to learn. It means trusting yourself enough to begin, continuing to develop your skills, and refusing to introduce yourself through insecurity. People feel how we see ourselves. If I present myself like I do not belong, that energy enters the room before I explain anything. If I remember who I am and the value I bring, people feel that too. Where have you been shrinking yourself because you are new or uncomfortable? Tell me in the comments.
