A quiet autumn dawn in an old gold-mining town in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The first soft light is just touching the empty main street, and nobody else is up yet. Three black cats climbed down from a freight car in the night and still have straw in their fur: one plays his baritone sax on the boardwalk steps, and two have fallen asleep side by side on the bench. No tickets, no luggage, just the clothes they came in.
Warm baritone saxophone, walking upright bass, light piano, and brushes keep an easy, breezy vintage swing, with a little bossa and waltz along the way. Instrumental jazz for early mornings, reading, relaxing, or a slow start to the day.
We rolled in late.
If you’ve been up since before the sun, sit with us a while.
