Your first serve just kissed the net, and now you're standing there for the second one — arm slow, knees locked, hand aiming instead of swinging — and it drops like a stone anyway. If that's your Tuesday morning at the public courts, this one's for you. 🎾
Inside this video I walk you through eleven months of testing my own second serve, including the exact number that changed everything: how much external shoulder rotation quietly disappears after sixty, and why that's not weakness, it's just biomechanics. I show you the two buckets of fifty serves I hit, the humbling first attempt, and the drill with nothing but a wall and a hand towel that finally got me from thirty-one balls in to forty-one, with real kick instead of a soft floater begging to be crushed.
It works because your legs can pay a bill your shoulder can no longer cover. Once the push comes from the floor instead of the arm, the double fault problem stops being about guiding the ball and starts being about trusting a chain of motion your body still has, even after sixty.
Grab a hand towel, find five minutes near your kettle, and try the drill I describe near the end — then come tell me how your legs held up. And if you're tired of pushing your second serve and hoping, hit subscribe so the next fix finds you before your next Tuesday match.
Ryan Senior Tennis is where I turn what actually works after sixty-five into serves, strokes, and drills you can use on your own public court.
