The Hollywood CHILD STARS Whose Parents Spent Their MILLIONS Before They Grew Up

The Hollywood CHILD STARS Whose Parents Spent Their MILLIONS Before They Grew Up Hollywood always told the same story about its children. The studios found them, the camera loved them, and their parents, as the law required, looked after the money. The court filings tell a different story. Jackie Coogan earned between three and four million dollars before he turned twenty-one and walked out of court with about $126,000. Shirley Temple, by her own account, found $44,000 left in trust. Freddie Bartholomew had paid $83,000 in legal fees to his own relatives by the age of fifteen. Judy Garland said the studio handed her pills to stay awake and pills to sleep. And the voice of Peter Pan was buried on Hart Island under no name at all. It all started with one sentence in a Los Angeles court petition, December 1922.
