This amount comprises ₹4,500 from sugar factories and a State Advisory Price (SAP) of ₹1,000 from the state government. In Belagavi, protests by farmers demanding this rate of ₹5,500 per tonne have intensified. A Swamiji, who extended his support to the farmers during their 'Karnataka Bandh' agitation, urged them not to harvest their sugarcane even if it dries up. When an individual attempted to interrupt his speech, the Swamiji gave him a sharp and stern reprimand.
