Why Can't I Find Peace When Everything Feels Uncertain? | Be Still and Know (Morning Prayer)

The news pours in before you are fully awake. Prices rise, jobs feel uncertain, a test result is pending, someone you love is struggling. It can feel as if the ground under your feet is moving. When the world is shaking, where do you stand? In this morning prayer we walk slowly through Psalm 46: the earth gives way and the nations rage, yet there is a quiet river that makes glad the city of God, and "God will help her when morning dawns." We hear Jesus give His peace, "not as the world gives," hours before His arrest; we see Peter sleeping in chains on what could have been his last night; and we learn to let go and "be still, and know that I am God." We close with three simple steps for today and a prayer for peace, for those who are afraid, and for all who lead.
