Where Does My Help Come From? | Psalm 121 Morning Prayer (Day 3 of 7)

Welcome to day three of 7 Mornings in the Psalms. Maybe you can already see the long road of this week in front of you: a hard conversation, a hospital visit, a heavy workload, a decision you don't know how to make. Psalm 121 is a Song of Ascents, sung by pilgrims walking up through the hills to Jerusalem. "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Not from the hills, and not from our own strength, but from the One who made them. We hear the word "keep" six times in eight verses, rest in the LORD as our shade on our right hand, and receive the promise that He will keep our going out and our coming in, from this time forth and forevermore. Tomorrow morning: Psalm 139, being fully known and fully loved.
