There were many stories about the dragon who lived in the mountains north of Embervale. Most agreed that he possessed an enormous treasure. Naturally, this meant adventurers spent years searching for his cave, usually equipped with swords, empty sacks and very optimistic ideas about how much gold a dragon might be willing to share. None of them found it. The person who finally did was Nell, a young goblin messenger from Embervale with green skin, pointed ears and an extraordinary talent for getting lost. While delivering a parcel across the mountains, she took the wrong path, crossed a bridge that definitely wasn't on her map and eventually discovered an enormous stone door hidden behind ivy. Nell knocked. A blue-gray dragon opened it. “Are you lost?” Nell looked at her map, which she had been holding upside down. “Not necessarily.” The dragon's name was Orin, and the stories about his treasure were true. His cavern was filled from floor to ceiling with thousands of objects collected over centuries. There were wooden toys, tarnished keys, old paintings, broken instruments, single earrings, forgotten books, faded ribbons, chipped teacups, abandoned swords and letters that had never reached their destinations. There was almost no gold. Nell stared at the strange collection and asked the obvious question. Why would a dragon keep any of this? Orin carefully placed a cracked wooden horse back onto its shelf. “Because someone once wanted them.” To Orin, that was enough to make something a treasure. Nell returned to the cave a few days later. Then again the following week. Soon she discovered something even stranger: Orin remembered where he had found almost every object. Together, they began carrying forgotten things back to Embervale. An elderly woman received the brooch she had lost when she was seventeen. A baker recognized a wooden toy his father had carved for him as a child. A retired soldier received a letter written during the war that had never reached him. One man spent twenty minutes insisting that an ancient woolen sock could not possibly belong to him. Orin remained absolutely certain that it did. But among all the forgotten things in the cavern, there was one object Nell was never allowed to touch. A tiny silver bell rested alone on a shelf near Orin's sleeping place. Eventually, Nell asked about it. For once, the dragon was quiet. The bell belonged to him. Centuries earlier, when Orin was still young, he had been injured near Embervale. A village girl found him hiding in the forest and secretly cared for him until his wing healed. Because he was very good at disappearing among the trees, she tied a little silver bell around his neck so she could always find him. Years later, Orin returned to Embervale looking for her. But dragons live much longer than humans. She was already gone. The bell was all he had left. Only then did Nell understand why a dragon had spent centuries collecting things nobody else wanted. Orin knew that sometimes the smallest object could become precious simply because it was all that remained of someone you loved. Years passed, and Nell continued visiting the cavern. Together they returned hundreds of forgotten treasures, although Orin still occasionally insisted on keeping particularly interesting teacups. One evening, Nell arrived carrying a small wooden box. Inside was the battered map she had carried on the day they met. It was covered in wrong turns, corrections, rain stains and a very questionable drawing of a mountain. Orin looked at her. “You haven't lost this.” Nell smiled. “Not yet.” She placed the box carefully among his treasures. Because perhaps something did not need to be lost before it was worth keeping. Sometimes, it was enough to know that one day, someone should remember it. ✨ Welcome to Tales from Embervale — a quiet corner of a fantasy world, where every melody carries a story. 🎧 Expect: Gentle medieval melodies and magical fantasy ambience inspired by hidden caverns, forgotten treasures and unlikely friendships. 🔮 Genres: Medieval Fantasy Music, Cozy Fantasy, Fantasy Instrumental, Relaxing Music, Reading Music. 🌿 Perfect for: 📚 Reading and studying • 🖋️ Writing and worldbuilding • 🐉 Fantasy adventures • 🎲 D&D and tabletop RPG ambience. ✨ What you'll feel: Lantern-lit caverns, shelves of forgotten treasures, old memories and the quiet magic hidden inside ordinary things.
