Walking through a rainy autumn forest, he found a small wooden house on a clearing. Up close it was abandoned—broken, cluttered and leaking—but night was coming and wildlife was near. He cleared the trash, repaired the walls and roof, built a simple bed and table from what he found, set up a camp stove, lit the fire and made hot tea. A quiet, romantic night alone by the stove in an old forest house—and a second life for a place that may one day save a traveler from cold and animals. In the morning, he moved on.
