10/10/2026 Great Vespers of the Sunday in Honor of the Holy Fathers of the 7th Ecumenical Council

The Orthodox Service of Great Vespers Because the Orthodox liturgical day begins at sunset (Genesis 1:5), Saturday evening Great Vespers marks the official liturgical start of Sunday. Offered at our Church every Saturday at 5 pm. Come and See! "Today let us extol those God-bearing Fathers, whom we call the mystical trumpets of the Spirit, for when they declared theology, it was like they were playing harmonious music in the middle of the Church. They taught that the Trinity is one, unchanging essence and Godhead. They were the front-line defenders of the Orthodox, and they brought down the heresy of Arius. Now they always intercede with the Lord, that He have mercy on our souls." "Fathers, being true and genuine shepherds, * in every age, from the flock of the Savior * you drove out all heresies, especially their leaders; * for by remaining unrepentant, * and deceiving the faithful, * they were like vicious wolves in sheepskins. * O Saints, when you superbly * expelled those thrice-wretched men you stripped them * of the sheepskins of their offices. And therefore now * we celebrate you and call you blest."
