This was the Bondi Road level crossing in Bonbeach, Victoria, Australia. This level crossing was located on the Frankston line and was grade separated in November 2021 by lowering the railway line into a trench to go under the road.
This level crossing was a gated setup consisting of two gated signals, and four flashing light signals. There was also a protected pedestrian level crossing with swing gates on the northern side.
There were two tracks going through the level crossing which were both broad gauge.
This level crossing was maintained by Metro
The level crossing equipment consisted of:
Two loud tone General Signals Type 2 electronic bells
Westinghouse crossarms with branded and unbranded Westinghouse incandescent and older style LED lights.
Invensys Rail boom gate mechanisms
5 inch Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co clamp style based on both gated signals.
As mentioned earlier in the description there was a pedestrian level crossing with swing gates on the northern side with push release escape gates. Both swing gate mechanisms had branding plates on them, but were painted over. They were either Magnetic Automation or Magnetic Autocontrol branded.
