The port side line clutch on Folly had a serious problem — one side was lifted nearly an inch off the deck.
That meant something underneath wasn’t right.
In this video, I remove the old clutch, inspect the mounting area, drill new mounting holes, fill and seal the old holes with epoxy, install new hardware, bed everything properly, and replace the old unit with a brand-new Spinlock rope clutch.
This turned into a much more involved repair than simply swapping out a piece of deck hardware, but it was worth doing correctly. Any hardware mounted through the deck can become a potential source of water intrusion if it isn’t properly sealed, so this was a good opportunity to start fresh and make sure the new clutch was securely mounted and properly bedded.
Another project completed on my 1984 Catalina 27, Folly.
