She explains that anxiety often returns with a new class, curriculum changes, and the sudden workload shift after summer, and that how you start the year can shape how you feel all year. Erin’s five tips are: take a break from Instagram/Pinterest if social media comparisons are stressing you out; don’t let colleagues’ warnings about last year’s kids bias you before you meet them; focus on long-term routines, procedures, and systems instead of classroom aesthetics; drop out of the “back-to-school Olympics” competition; and keep firm boundaries even with new curriculum or expectations. She also mentions resources like the Teachaholic Action Guide, the Great Eighty-Eight, and her book Teachaholic. 00:00 Welcome and Topic 00:31 Why Teacher Anxiety Spikes During Back to School 01:37 Tip 1 Social Media Break from Teacher Gram 02:55 Tip 2 Ignore Gossip About Last Year's Class 04:19 Tip 3 Long Game Prep to Survive the School Year 05:52 Tip 4 Quit Competing with Other Teachers 07:12 Tip 5 Keep Boundaries in Place for The New Year 08:52 Quick Recap 10:32 Wrap Up and Next Video For more resources on classroom management, time management, and preserving mental well-being to avoid teacher burnout, visit https://www.erinsponaugle.com.
