Digweed's Swing-Through Starts With Your Feet George Digweed is the most decorated clay shooter alive. He was the first man to break 100 straight in a World Championship, and in 2011 he broke a clay at 130 yards using standard cartridges. His method is swing-through: the gun starts behind the target, accelerates through it, and the shot goes as the muzzle passes. That one choice changes everything about where your feet belong. If your lead comes from gun speed, then anything that slows the gun at the moment of the shot doesn't cost you a little — it costs you the entire shot. The problem is that the stance which feels most natural is almost always the one that stops your gun. You walk into the stand, you look at the trap, and your body squares up to face where the target comes from. It feels like being ready. What you've actually done is spend all your available rotation on the wrong end of the shot. In this video we cover why swing-through demands different footwork than sustained lead, how to build your stance backwards from the break point instead of forwards from the trap, why weight on the front foot and a narrower base matter more than they look, and the reset between the two birds of a pair that almost nobody makes. This matters more after 50, not less. You have less rotation available than you had at 30 — but rotation is a budget, and a budget only fails when it's spent in the wrong place. ⏱ Timestamps 00:00 Why Digweed Starts With The Feet 00:57 Why Swing-Through Changes The Geometry 01:52 You Set Your Feet For Where It Dies 03:12 Find The Break Point 04:07 Build The Stance Backwards 05:15 Wind, Don't Stretch 06:24 The Reset Nobody Does 07:10 What Changes When The Feet Come First When you walk into a stand, do you set your feet for where the target appears, or for where you intend to break it?
