The Studio Boss Said Marry or Go BLIND. He Died Six Weeks Later Sammy Davis Jr.

He Loved Hitchcock's Blonde. The Studio Sent the MOB. He Married a Stranger: Sammy Davis Jr. In January 1958, one of the hottest entertainers in America married a young dancer at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, and the newspapers printed a smiling photograph of the couple cutting the cake. But he had known his bride only a short time. According to the people closest to him, he had been told to marry a Black woman within days or lose his remaining eye. The woman he could not be seen with was Kim Novak, Columbia Pictures' biggest new star. The man who owned her contract was Harry Cohn. Six weeks after the wedding, Cohn was dead. Thirty years later, Sammy Davis Jr. died owing millions to the IRS. And the bride in the photograph, Loray White, almost vanished from the record. She is the one nobody asked.
