Yet the fighting is moving in the wrong direction for Riyadh. But deployment has not translated into battlefield momentum. Saudi-backed formations advanced towards the Bab al-Mandab coast. Their early gains, however, proved difficult to hold. Meanwhile, missiles and drones are reportedly targeting Saudi military installations, airports and oil facilities. The reported advance towards key approaches could further restrict the movement of Saudi-backed forces. He cites a stark imbalance in claimed territorial gains: approximately 1,253 square kilometres for Ansarallah against around 70 square kilometres for Saudi-backed forces during the period discussed.
