What is the cheapest time to visit Japan in 2027? Hotel prices in Japan rise and fall like a tide: in October 2025 a room in Kyoto's main hotels cost about 24,900 yen a night, in August about 17,000. This guide walks through the whole year, month by month, so you can arrive at low tide.
In this video:
・Cheapest month in Japan: why January has the lowest hotel occupancy (54.6%), and the New Year week that breaks the rule
・Japan in February 2027: the Lunar New Year week (around Feb 6) and the Sapporo Snow Festival
・Cherry blossom season and Golden Week 2027 (Apr 29 – May 5): the spike after the blossoms
・Japan in June: the rainy season (Tokyo about 6.6 inches) and why it's good value outside Hokkaido
・Kyoto in August vs October: 4 nights, about 31,400 yen apart, and the Obon week to avoid
・Typhoon season in September: the local's trick (cancelable rates + one flexible day)
・Autumn high tide, the calm window in early December, and two new costs: the 3,000-yen departure tax and Okinawa's 2% hotel tax (from Feb 1, 2027)
Prices change every year and these are patterns, not promises. Flights follow your home country's holidays, so check your own route. Data as of October 25, 2026; check the latest update before you go.
