Planning your first trip to Tokyo with three days and a list of thirty places?
This 3-day Tokyo itinerary groups the city like a bento box: old Tokyo in the east on day one, the center and west on day two, and a flexible day three. Fill each day with neighbors, and three days feel complete, not rushed.
In this video:
・Why a Tokyo itinerary works by neighborhood: Asakusa, Ueno, Tokyo Station, Shibuya and Shinjuku, and why crossing the city costs time
・Senso-ji and Asakusa at 7 a.m.: the Kaminarimon gate, the main hall from 6 a.m. (6:30 from October through March), free entry, and Tokyo Skytree across the river
・Ueno Park and the Tokyo National Museum, Ameyoko street food, and Akihabara after dark
・The most common Tokyo planning mistake: the Imperial Palace East Gardens close on Mondays and Fridays, and many museums close on Mondays
・Meiji Jingu, Harajuku and Omotesando: from a forest shrine to Takeshita Street in one walk
・SHIBUYA SKY at sunset: tickets released about two weeks ahead at midnight Japan time, cheaper online, free lockers and no umbrellas on the roof
・Tsukiji Outer Market for breakfast, Ginza, and a free afternoon (or Hakone for a full day out)
・Tokyo Subway Ticket vs JR: 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 yen for 24 / 48 / 72 hours since March 14, 2026, and an IC card like Suica for the Yamanote Line
Prices, opening hours and booking rules are as of October 21, 2026, and they change. Check the official pages before you go.
💬 Tell me in the comments: which compartment would you change, and what would you put in it instead?
