FBI TRACKS DOWN $1.2B Fraudster Who FLED — Gets 20 YEARS

Herb Kimble ran a Medicare brace scam from the Philippines, made a deal to stay out of prison, then skipped court three times and ran. The FBI put him on its new Most Wanted Fraudsters list and caught him one week later. Now he’s getting 20 years. Herbert “Herb” Kimble, 60, of Chicago, ran offshore call centers that targeted seniors with “free” knee, back and wrist braces. Doctors who never examined anyone signed the orders, and medical equipment companies billed Medicare. The full Operation Brace Yourself scheme hit Medicare with more than $1.2 billion in charges. The Justice Department pinned $365 million in fraudulent claims on Kimble, said Medicare paid out over $199 million, and said he personally pocketed more than $195 million, including a luxury condo at the Shangri-La in the Philippines. He pleaded guilty in 2019 and worked with the feds on a deal that could have kept him out of prison. Then he missed three court dates in 2024 and fled. On October 26, 2026, a federal judge sentenced him to 20 years with no parole, plus more than $199 million in restitution.
