15-Year-Old Kamani Brown Shot Outside Her Home After Disturbing Threat

Fifteen-year-old Kamani Brown was spending time with a friend inside her Fort Lauderdale home when gunfire suddenly changed her life. At approximately 3:45 a.m. on August 29, 2026, Kamani was shot outside her family’s home on Northwest Ninth Street. The bullet passed through her arm and damaged an artery, causing severe blood loss. Kamani managed to return inside, where her friend immediately pressed against the wound until emergency workers arrived. She was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with serious injuries and survived. Kamani’s mother, Kahadeja McCray, told local reporters that her daughter had received threatening messages from a 16-year-old former boyfriend. She alleged that he came to the home with another person before the shooting. However, police had not publicly identified the shooter or announced an arrest in the reports available when this video was prepared.
