We're back working through the engine removal process, and this time we're tackling the suspension and driveshafts to get everything ready for the big moment.
After draining the fuel tank, removing the fuel sender unit and transferring the fuel into my MR2 SW20, we're moving on to the next jobs needed to free up the engine and gearbox.
But, as seems to be becoming a regular theme with this Accord, things don't quite go to plan!
IN THIS EPISODE:
Removing suspension components
Tackling the driveshaft removal
Finding even MORE hidden rust
Uncovering more questionable bodged repairs
Discovering yet more fluids that need draining
Continuing the preparation for the engine and gearbox removal
The more we take apart, the more we uncover. What started as an engine failure caused by a piston ring problem in cylinder 4 has turned into a much bigger restoration project than I originally expected.
There's rust, questionable previous repairs and plenty of unexpected jobs along the way. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder just how much more this Accord is going to throw at me!
But we're not giving up just yet. Every component removed is another step closer to getting that engine and gearbox out.
Will we finally get everything disconnected and ready for the engine pull?
LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS: Have you ever worked on a car where every job seems to uncover another problem? And how much rust or bodged repairs would be enough to make you walk away from a project?
Thanks for following along with the Honda Accord Type R restoration. Make sure to like, subscribe and turn on notifications because we're getting closer to one of the biggest stages of this project!

SAFETY NOTICE
Suspension and driveshaft removal can involve heavy components, stored mechanical tension and hazardous fluids. Always support the vehicle securely using appropriately rated axle stands on suitable ground, never rely on a jack alone, and use suitable tools and PPE. Follow manufacturer procedures, safely contain and dispose of drained fluids, and take extra care when working around suspension components and drivetrain assemblies.
