″Itaewon murder″ vicitim′s mother pleads maximum sentence for Patterso

The first hearing in the so－called ″Burger King Murder″ trial took place today in Seoul. The Prosecutor′s Office has sought a 20－year jail term for the accused， Arthur Patterson， who is charged with murdering Cho Joong－pil... in April 1997. The victim′s mother who today appeared as a witness， pleaded for the maximum sentence. Edward Lee， who was acquitted of the crime in the first trial 17 years ago， was called as a prosecution witness. Both Patterson and Lee admit to being at the crime scene when Cho， then a college student， was stabbed to death in the bathroom of a fast food restaurant in Seoul′s Itaewon district. However， both still insist the other committed the murder.
