Crater Lake National Park Blew Me Away | Road Trip With My Dog

Crater Lake National Park wasn’t originally a bucket-list destination for me, but it became one of the unexpected highlights of our American West road trip. Yogi and I entered through the park’s south entrance on July 5, 2026, and spent the afternoon driving around Rim Drive, stopping at overlooks and taking in the incredible blue water and volcanic landscape. At 1,943 feet deep, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and seeing its immense scale in person completely blew me away.
