Before the First Drop… || Sorghum Season || October 2026

Sorghum season is in full swing here on the homestead, and we're one step closer to cooking molasses! Today we're cutting our sorghum cane, cleaning up, and getting everything ready for the big cooking day. There's a whole lot of hard work that goes into making sorghum molasses, and most of it happens long before the first drop ever comes out of the pan. We know the cooking is the part everybody looks forward to, but we want to share the whole process with you. The long days, the preparation, the hard work, and everything in between. After all, these old ways weren't always easy, but there's something mighty special about keeping them alive. We're thankful for this sorghum crop and the opportunity to carry on a tradition that meant so much to generations before us. Thanks for coming along and being part of our days here on the homestead.
