Have You EVER Seen a Lighthouse Made of TIN?! 😲 | Caloundra Lighthouse #lighthouse #lighthouses #historicbuildings 😲 *HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A LIGHTHOUSE MADE OUT OF TIN?* Well, we found one in **Caloundra on Queensland's Sunshine Coast**, and of course we had to visit. 😂 This week we're exploring the historic Caloundra lighthouses — two very different lighthouses standing side-by-side and offering a fascinating glimpse into the area's maritime history. First up was the little **1896 lighthouse**, which is made from metal and definitely doesn't look like your typical lighthouse! You can no longer climb the ladder inside the Tin Lighhouse but you can definitively build the one built in 1968. Then came the challenge… ⬆️ *CLIMBING TO THE TOP!* There was no stair lift for Dave this time 😂, so up the stairs we went. We completely forgot to count how many steps there were, but it took us about a minute to reach the top. And WOW — what a view! 🌊 It was incredibly windy, but from the top we had spectacular views across Caloundra and out towards the ocean. We even went looking for whales… although unfortunately we couldn't spot any! 🐋 Standing alongside the original lighthouse is the much newer lighthouse, which was built in **1968**. So within just a few metres you can see two completely different eras of lighthouse design — the little historic lighthouse from 1896 and its much more modern neighbour. Neither lighthouse is operating as an active lighthouse today, but they're an awesome little piece of Caloundra's history to explore. 😂 And naturally, because our family can't go anywhere without something happening, there was plenty of banter on the climb to the top!
