This is one INTENSE final mission. This definitely took me a few failed attempts to get right, which were not shown in this video because in those attempts I was just trying to gauge how to approach this map, because that is the main thing you should sit down and think for this map. While I definitely think this mission might be way too overtuned for the difficulty this campaign was at, I enjoyed it a lot.
So the main challenge in this mission is not your big bad brother and his forces, instead its the nether dragons that keep coming in waves and trying to swarm your base. Your priority absolutely should be to destroy those nether dragon spawners as soon as possible. Seriously, if you choose to dilly-dally in your base for too long you will easily get swarmed by millions of those dragons and not know what to do. Also make sure your two melee heroes have an orb, because I promise your three heroes will be the only reason you will win this map, especially thanks to the tanky nature of Grodgosh along with you being able to cycle who is tanking the projectiles of the massive nether dragon swarm. Grodgosh's roar to up your damage helps a LOT. Another tip from me would be to always focus fire one dragon after the other whenever multiple of your units are against multiple nether dragons. Spreading your damage will be the reason you will lose a battle you should otherwise win by focus firing.
Another massive challenge in this map is the shortage of resources in the beginning, which SUCKS because you really are not in a position to expand out, because that means you have to run back and forth to defend both your main and your expansion bases, which is not ideal at all. That is why I would advise selling some of your junk items to make money for the time being until you destroy a majority of the nether dragon spawners and then you can expand when the waves have become more manageable. I did give Grodgosh a Tiny Town Hall item in the previous mission to carry over to this mission on my own time so that I didn't have to save up on building a 2nd town hall at the expansion.
Other than that, the main strategy of this mission is to determine when it is right to move out and destroy one of the dragon spawners. Use Kordar's Far Sight or his wolves to first scout out where all the spawners are. Also build a lot of Headhunters in this mission, honestly they are the main units I trained for this. I don't think I trained any melee unit, I just had those you get from the mission itself. Use the Headhunters and your Orc Burrows to defend at home while you are out destroying spawners. Your main two upgrades from the war mill at the beginning you should focus on are Fortified Upgrade making Burrows and Towers have fortified armour (which makes Nether Dragons' Magic damage do less compared to them being weak having heavy armour) and the Ranged upgrade making your headhunters strong. Honestly this mission for some reason loads you up with TOO many peons at the beginning which might be a bit irritating, having them hog up your food, but this makes them easy casualties - definitely use them to defend by loading them up on burrows, and you can even use them as distractions letting them take the heat over your buildings by making them repair something (AI hates repairing peons).
The Kurudai base also occasionally attacks you with their troops, but again, like I have already voiced, I hate how the enemy base AIs are set up throughout this campaign. They just always run away after engaging for a little bit, although you can use this in your advantage in this mission. Just attack them a little bit and let them retreat while you fend off your actual foes - the nether dragons.
Also once you are done with destroying all the spawners, your mission is basically over. All that is left is taking out the main base which is pathetically easy like all base sieges were in this campaign honestly. We sadly do not have much of a climactic boss fight at the end like we had when we dueled Kurudai.
Overall, this campaign really shined I think in the storytelling aspect. The gameplay aspect though was very uneven, sometimes it was great and fun, and sometimes we had those absolute stinkers - namely Chapter 4 and Chapter 6 - I hated those missions. But honestly, this final mission was really fun, I loved the challenge involved in routing how you are supposed to approach it, even though it felt kinda impossible at first.
Overall I would give this a 3.5/5 rating! Enjoyed it. Until next time!
