Foundation has no ruler. Not one. You can place a windmill, put a bakery across the valley, and the game will never once tell you how far apart they actually are. So I borrowed a villager to find out. In this quick method video I'll show you the Borrowed Villager Method — the trick I use in almost every lab, and the one some of you have asked about. It turns any villager into a measuring tape. You click a house right beside your first building, give one of its occupants a job at the second building for a moment, open their card, and read the distance straight off it. That's your measurement. Then you give them their old job back and thank them for their time. They won't remember. ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 How far apart are these buildings? 0:21 Why distance keeps cropping up in my labs 0:39 The trick: let a villager do the measuring 0:52 Step 1 & 2: Borrow a house, then borrow a villager 1:06 Step 3: Read the distance on their card 1:23 Step 4: Give their old job back 1:35 Tip 1: Be quick — the 200 metre rule 1:51 Tip 2: The house has to be right beside the building 2:05 Tip 3: When the workplace is already full 2:25 One honest gap: straight line or walking route? 2:39 Try it on your furthest market stall The four steps: 1. Click a house right beside the first building — that's your starting point. 2. Give one of them a job at the second building, just for a moment. 3. Open their card. It shows how far they live from their new job. 4. Give them their old job back. Three things to watch: 1. Be quick. Past about 200 metres, a villager may decide to move house if there's a free one nearer their new job. Check there isn't, read the number, then switch them straight back. 2. Get the house close. The card measures from their home, not from the building — so the closer the house, the closer your number. 3.If the new workplace is full, you'll need to dismiss someone first, and it can take a day or two of game time before the slot shows as free. Your borrowed villager will show as unemployed. Be patient. One honest gap: I don't know whether that number is a straight line or the walking route. I've only measured across flat, open ground so far. The numbers behind this come from my own labs — a miller walking about 230 metres for wheat, a bread tender stopping somewhere between 190 and 220. Those aren't guesses. They're what the cards said. Your turn: measure your furthest market stall from its granary and tell me the number in the comments. I'd love to know if the distance shocks you. Thank you so much for watching. If this helped you measure your own town, please like the video and subscribe so you catch the next experiment. See you in the lab. 🔗 Nanna's Lab playlist:    • Nanna's Lab   🔗 Coeur de Lis settlement series:    • Foundation: Coeur de Lis   #Foundation #NannasLab #CityBuilder #FoundationGame #CozyGaming
