How to BUILD a Consistent Salah Habit (Step-by-Step) in Dhul Hijjah | Hisham Abu Yusuf
Full Episode: • How to Pray Tahajjud in Ramadan So Your Du...
.
You finished the Quran in 10 days. You prayed Tahajjud every night in Ramadan. But now? Nothing. The habits evaporated. Why? Because you focused on quantity, not quality, and you had no system for consistency.
In this profound and practical lecture, Ustadh Hisham Abu Yusuf reveals the secret of the Prophet's ﷺ worship: it was not the length of his standing, but the depth of his heart.
The Prophet ﷺ would recite a single verse all night long, weeping until his beard was soaked. His outward movements were only the tip of the iceberg; inside, love, fear, gratitude, and shame overflowed.
The problem for most of us is not that we don't pray on time – it's that the engine of the heart is dead. If a plane has no engine, it will not fly. If a camel has no food, it will not walk. You need to nourish your heart with the feelings that move you to worship.
In this video, you will learn:
The Story of the Prophet ﷺ Crying All Night: He recited one verse from Surah Al-Imran about creation, and then another night he recited "If You punish them, they are Your slaves; if You forgive them, You are the Mighty, the Wise" – for eight hours straight. What moved him? The quality of his contemplation, not the quantity of his recitation.
The Worship of the Heart is Greater: The Prophet's ﷺ outward rukoo and sujud could be matched by some companions, but his inner gratitude, love, and fear could never be matched. That is what made him superior. Compete in depth, not length.
The Hypocrite's Salah (Pecking Like a Chicken): The Prophet ﷺ described a hypocrite who waits until the last moment and then quickly pecks four times on the ground – that is not prayer. The outward movements mean nothing without inner presence.
Build Habits Like a Mountain – One Pebble at a Time: Every mountain starts with a pebble. The most beloved deeds to Allah are consistent, even if small. Don't try to pray all the voluntary prayers overnight. Start with the five obligatory prayers on time, with khushoo, for one month. Then add the 12 Sunnah. Then add night prayer. Build layer by layer.
The Compound Effect of Small Deeds: You won't see the effect daily, but over weeks and months, the small consistent actions build into a mountain of reward and spiritual strength.
How to Create Accountability Systems: The reason you wake up for work at 8 AM but not for Fajr is accountability – your boss will penalize you. Create your own system:
Pay a teacher to hold you accountable for memorization with strict penalties.
Create a WhatsApp group for Qiyam al-Layl with consequences (e.g., £100 charity if you miss).
Pair up with a friend to call you at 3 AM.
Recommended Book: Atomic Habits by James Clear – apply its principles to your worship.
This lecture is a game-changer. Stop chasing quantity. Start building consistent, heart-driven habits that last.
