What if the things you regret are actually part of what made you who you are today? I don't live with regret. And no, that doesn't mean everything in my life has gone the way I wanted it to. Far from it. But I genuinely love who I am and who I'm becoming, and I recognize that changing one experience from my past could have changed the entire trajectory of my life. Recently, my brother and I spent an evening talking about our childhood and the different ways we experienced our parents' divorce. When I asked him whether there was anything in his life he would change, his response sparked a much bigger conversation about decisions, consequences, and the ripple effects we rarely recognize in the moment. It reminded me of how I met my husband. One day at the beach, I happened to walk down the same street where he was sitting. Had I chosen a different street, my life might look entirely different today. That seemingly insignificant moment eventually influenced where I lived, the experiences I had as a military spouse, and the person I became. But this episode isn't simply about looking backward with gratitude. It's about recognizing the power we have right now to create a future we won't look back on wishing we'd approached differently. I'm also sharing how conversations about retirement and financial freedom have influenced the decisions I'm making today to build assets, recurring revenue, and a legacy for my children. Because if I want something different ten or twenty years from now, I have to be willing to start creating it today. Living with regret_transcript_20261014_065827.docx In this episode, we're talking about Why I say I don't have regrets, even though I have experiences I wish had gone differently. The conversation with my brother that inspired this episode. How one seemingly insignificant decision can change the course of your life. Meeting my husband at the beach and the ripple effect of that encounter. The relationship between daily choices and long-term outcomes. Why learning from your experiences matters more than simply knowing what went wrong. Building financial freedom and assets instead of postponing those decisions. The difference between regret and dissatisfaction. Why gratitude for unanswered prayers can coexist with the desire for something better. Recognizing the fear that comes up when you're about to do something new. Taking ownership of what happens next. The perspective shift We spend so much time thinking about what we wish we'd done differently. But the more useful question is often: What am I going to do differently now because of what I've learned? You can't go backward and rewrite one chapter without potentially changing everything that came afterward. You can, however, use the wisdom you've gained to make a different decision today. And that decision might change everything that comes next.
