A name, a number, a stamp—and still no usable destination. What happened when a letter's address defeated ordinary delivery? The surviving Blind Reading album preserves difficult addresses from 1883–1884 alongside the destinations recovered by the U.S. Dead Letter Office. We compare the actual envelopes with their recorded answers, and follow why the empty wrappers came back to be kept. These are selected successes, not proof that every letter was rescued. #PostalHistory #DeadLetterOffice #HistoryFarAndWide
