Harpsichord transmutation of Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K.525 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Composed in 1787, Eine kleine Nachtmusik is one of Mozart’s most widely recognized instrumental works. Originally written for string ensemble, the piece is characterized by clarity of form, rhythmic vitality, and balanced proportions typical of Mozart’s mature Classical style. Presented here on the harpsichord, the work is approached through articulation and structural clarity, allowing its elegance and momentum to emerge without reliance on string sonority. Bruno Martins is a harpsichordist and contemporary musician based in Paris. Transmutation is Bruno Martins’s practice of changing a work’s musical body through the harpsichord, not simply transferring its notes.
