Harpsichord transmutation of Winter from The Four Seasons, Concerto No. 4 in F minor, Op. 8, RV 297 by Antonio Vivaldi. Winter concludes Vivaldi’s cycle of violin concertos known as The Four Seasons, published in 1725. The opening movement is marked by tension, fragmentation, and sharp rhythmic contrast, reflecting the work’s programmatic conception and its emphasis on dramatic gesture. Presented here on the harpsichord, the Allegro non molto is approached through articulation, density, and rhythmic insistence, allowing its severity and drive to emerge without reliance on orchestral force. Bruno Martins is a harpsichordist and contemporary musician based in Paris.
