Cooler air moving in aloft from the west was set to destabilise a very hot, humid plume that was being pulled northwards ahead of low pressure and a cold front over Ireland. CAPE of up to 2000j/kg along with directional wind shear was to allow for organised, and potentially severe, thunderstorms.
